Do I need an eye exam if I see fine?
Yes. An exam checks the health of your eyes as well as your vision, and some eye problems cause no change in how you see at first.
How often should I have an exam?
Many adults have an exam about every two years, and every year with contact lenses, diabetes or a family history of eye disease. The doctor sets the schedule that fits you.
Do you work with my vision plan?
We work with many vision plans. Call us or send the form, and we check yours before the visit.
Why was part of my visit billed to medical insurance?
Looking into an eye problem or checking an eye disease is medical work, so it goes to medical insurance. The routine part goes to your vision plan. How fees work explains it.
Can I fill my prescription somewhere else?
Yes. Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy after your exam and fitting.
Can I have my contact lens prescription?
Yes, when your fitting is complete. We give you a copy.
What should I bring?
Your glasses and contact lenses, a list of your medicines, and your vision and medical insurance cards if you have them.
How much will it cost?
It depends on your plan and on what the doctor does. See How fees work, or call us, and we tell you before the visit.
What do I do in an eye emergency?
Sudden vision loss, a curtain over your vision, a sudden shower of floaters, an eye injury or a chemical splash: call our office or go to the nearest emergency room now. In an emergency, call 911.
Can I bring my child?
Yes. Our doctors see children, and a parent stays beside the child. Call us before bringing a baby or a toddler.
